The English department of the college happens to be the largest department in the college. The department has two full time posts, considering the workload of forty lectures per week.

English has been taught in the college since its inception in 2001.But it was introduced as a special subject in 2002. It has UG section providing knowledge in language and literature. The department has consistently striven to provide quality teaching to students who are drawn to the college from rural areas. In terms of resources and infrastructure too, the department has latest audio –visual equipment at its disposal including television set, DVD and LCD projector with screen. The department has a good collection of high quality books in the central library.

The English department has started a certificate course in Spoken English in order to enhance fluency in English .Besides this, the department plans to use the facility for providing other types of courses over a period of time. The department conducts different activities and organizes various programs throughout the year. Elocution competitions, debates, class seminars etc. are conducted to improve verbal communication skills of the students. Unit tests and tutorials are also conducted to improve writing skills in students.
